On the occasion of Yaum-e-Ashur, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in separate messages, termed the incident of Karbala as a lasting message of truth, justice and human dignity.
President urges steadfastness
They said that the promotion of inter-sectarian harmony, tolerance and unity is a need of the time. President Asif Ali Zardari said that Yaum-e-Ashur is a great day in Islamic history. He said the day teaches patience, steadfastness and truthfulness.

He said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and the Ahl-e-Bait offered the ultimate sacrifice rather than submitting before falsehood. He described this as a guiding light for the Ummah. He further stressed that people should avoid rumours and inflammatory behaviour and play a positive role in strengthening national unity.
Karbala incident reflects reform of Ummah: PM
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also issued a message. He said that the incident of Karbala represents the reform of the Ummah, revival of the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and the principle of enjoining good and forbidding evil. He said the conduct of Imam-e-Aali Maqam shows that sacrifice on principles is superior to submitting before oppression.

The prime minister appealed to scholars, youth and the wider nation to reject division and disorder, and to adopt mutual respect. He called for safeguarding the rights of deprived sections of society and contributing towards building a united and peaceful nation.
Naqvi's tribute to supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), Karbala martyrs
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Ashura is one of the greatest chapters in human history. He said Imam Hussain (RA) sacrificed everything for the glory and preservation of Islam, and that the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions remain a beacon of light for people across the world.
Naqvi said the martyrs of Karbala refused to bow before oppression and gave new life to the true spirit of Islam. He added that the sacrifice of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson teaches humanity to stand firm against tyranny and injustice, while the exemplary life of Imam Hussain (RA) gives people the courage to stand against the Yazid of every era.
He said the suffering endured by the Ahlul Bayt continues to shake the conscience of humanity even today. According to Naqvi, the tragedy of Karbala is an eternal lesson in patience, sacrifice, and steadfastness in the cause of truth.
The minister said Imam Hussain (RA) taught that those who uphold truth and justice will live forever in history. He added that every act of Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala proved that unwavering commitment to principles is the path to eternal success.
He said Ashura reminds people of the highest ideals of selflessness, sacrifice, and patience. He stressed that the Muslim world can overcome every challenge by following the timeless teachings of the martyrs of Karbala, adding that the teachings and golden principles of Imam Hussain (RA) offer solutions to many of today's challenges.
Karbala’s message of truth, steadfastness: Aleem Khan
Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan said the tragedy of Karbala delivers an eternal message of standing firm against oppression and remaining committed to principles. He said the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) is an everlasting distinction between truth and falsehood and a shining beacon for humanity.
In his Ashura message, Aleem Khan said the day teaches the values of preserving Islam, sacrifice, and unwavering steadfastness. He said the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala remain a timeless example of selflessness, loyalty, patience, and devotion to truth for the Muslim world.
He said the family of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upheld the banner of truth despite every trial, making their legacy a guiding light for all. According to Abdul Aleem Khan, Ashura reminds Muslims of truth, perseverance, patience, and seeking the pleasure of Allah.
He emphasized that promoting religious harmony and brotherhood is the need of the hour and essential for national progress. He also said the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala showed humanity the path of honor, courage, and perseverance.
The minister paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army for the country's security and defense. He concluded that the eternal sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala will always be remembered.
