Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has praised Pakistan and Qatar’s diplomatic mediation, saying it has led to “major progress” in efforts to end the Lebanon conflict.
His remarks came after the latest round of US–Iran talks in Switzerland, where key economic and regional issues were discussed.
Pakistan and Qatar hailed as key mediators
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Araghchi said tireless mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar had produced significant breakthroughs.
Tireless Pakistani and Qatari mediation has delivered major progress to end Lebanon War. Oil and petrochem exports are waived, blockade lifted, some frozen assets released, and major reconstruction & development plan launched for Iran.

Key outcomes highlighted by Iran
In his post, Araghchi said several key developments were achieved during the talks, including:
- Waivers on oil and petrochemical exports
- Lifting of certain blockade-related restrictions
- Partial release of frozen Iranian assets
- Launch of a reconstruction and development plan for Iran
He described these as part of broader diplomatic progress under the mediation framework.
Araghchi, however, cautioned that the “first real test” of the agreement would be the implementation of the Lebanon de-confliction mechanism.
He emphasized that the new cell would be crucial in monitoring and reducing tensions linked to ongoing military developments in the region.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Iranian delegates initially refused to continue quadrilateral talks following what Tehran described as a “threatening statement” by US President Donald Trump.
He said Qatar and Pakistan had attempted to keep the dialogue going, but Iran insisted on a different format focused on implementation of prior commitments.
