Actor Ranveer Singh has been officially banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) amid the ongoing dispute over his abrupt exit from Don 3.
According to Indian media reports, the federation took up the matter last week and announced its final decision during a press conference on Monday.
The FWICE issued a strict non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, effectively banning him and instructing the film industry not to work with the actor until the dispute is settled with the producers over the claimed 450 million Indian Rupees (INR) damages.
Condemning the actor’s last-minute withdrawal, the federation said the growing trend of leading stars stepping away from projects shortly before filming begins must be brought to an end.
The controversy reportedly began after Excel Entertainment, headed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, filed a complaint in April.
The complaint alleged that Ranveer Singh had signed a three-film agreement with the production house. The producers also sought reimbursement for substantial pre-production expenses incurred before the actor allegedly withdrew from the project.
