Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said US President Donald Trump had held telephone conversations with leaders of Pakistan and several Muslim countries, raising hopes of positive progress in talks between the United States, Iran and regional states.
According to details that surfaced on Sunday, Ishaq Dar said in a message posted on social media platform X that President Trump had spoken with the leadership of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Qatar.
He added that the US president had also held talks with the leadership of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, and said the important telephone contacts had strengthened hopes of diplomatic progress in the region.
Dar said Pakistan had reaffirmed its support for peace, stability and a diplomatic solution in the region. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir had played an important role in peace efforts.
The deputy prime minister praised the diplomatic efforts of President Trump, the US vice president and the secretary of state, while describing the constructive role of the Iranian leadership as important for the peace process.
He said that the efforts by the United Nations and regional partners could help advance diplomatic engagement.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Beijing on Sunday.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal is accompanying Ishaq Dar during the visit.
The vice minister of the CPC Central Committee received Ishaq Dar at the airport.
The deputy prime minister will attend the second Pakistan-China Political Parties Forum as a guest of honour.
He will also participate in the fourth CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultative Meeting.
Twelve political parties from Pakistan, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, are taking part in the forum.
