The Meteorological Department has warned that a heat wave is likely to affect different parts of the country from Monday until the end of this month, raising concerns during the Eid holidays.
In an interview with Samaa TV, Meteorological Department Director Irfan Virk said central Punjab, southern Punjab, Sindh, southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan are expected to be affected by the hot spell.
Virk said temperatures could increase by up to 7°C above normal during the heat wave. He warned that the risk of extreme heat would remain across the country during Eid, especially in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Citizens advised to avoid daytime outings
The Met Department advised citizens to take precautions while visiting tourist spots during Eid. Virk urged people to plan outings only in the evening or at night to avoid exposure to intense heat during the day.
According to the Met Department, the heat wave may also increase water flow in rivers. Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious as temperatures rise and weather conditions become harsher in several regions.
