The federal government has approved a four-year extension in the tenure of Fawad Asadullah Khan as Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
According to the official announcement, the decision was made in recognition of his professional capabilities and contributions to national security.
Officials stated that Fawad Asadullah Khan has played an effective role in handling sensitive security matters during his tenure.
The government described the continuation of his leadership as strategically important amid ongoing security and intelligence challenges.
Fawad Asadullah Khan was originally appointed as DG IB on April 21, 2022.
He also became the first officer from the intelligence cadre to be promoted to Grade 22 and appointed as Director General of the Intelligence Bureau.
