Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir are actively working to help resolve the Iran–US conflict.
He expressed hope that these diplomatic efforts will succeed in reducing regional tensions.
His remarks came during the inauguration of a major infrastructure project in Karachi.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Pakistan’s leadership is playing an active role in encouraging dialogue between Iran and the United States.
He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are making “great efforts” to support peace initiatives in the region.
Bilawal added that he prays for the success of these efforts in achieving a diplomatic breakthrough.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto stressed the importance of a peaceful resolution between Iran and the US.
He said that a successful agreement would not only reduce regional tensions but also help ease economic challenges faced by people in the region.
Shahrah-e-Bhutto expressway inauguration
The statement was made during the inauguration of the 39-kilometer Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway in Karachi.
The project connects Qayyumabad with the M-9 Motorway and is considered a key development link for the city’s transport network.
According to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the expressway has been developed in phases at a total cost of around Rs 65 billion for Phase III.
Project details
Sindh Chief Minister said the expressway includes:
- 6 interchanges
- 6 lanes
- A 5-kilometer elevated section
He added that different phases of the project were completed between 2025 and 2026.
Murad Ali Shah said the project faced delays due to efforts to avoid population displacement, but would significantly reduce travel time across Karachi and beyond.
The Chief Minister also said that development projects worth around Rs 1,700 billion are currently underway in Karachi.
He added that projects worth more than Rs 70 billion have been approved in the last three months alone.
Another major expansion is planned to connect Qayyumabad with Karachi Port.
