A high-level delegation from China, led by Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Tsai Dafeng, held discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.
The delegation is visiting Pakistan as part of celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
The meeting was attended by senior Pakistani officials, including:

PM Shehbaz highlights historic bilateral ties
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the delegation and praised the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and China.
He described the relationship as one built on:
- Mutual trust
- Strategic coordination
- Shared regional interests
He also extended greetings to Chinese leadership on the anniversary, including President Xi Jinping and other senior officials.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for China’s core national interests and emphasized respect for China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
CPEC described as 'game-changer'
The Prime Minister highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a transformative project for Pakistan’s development.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advancing the next phase of CPEC, focusing on:
- Agriculture
- Information technology
- Industry
- Mineral resources
He also expressed anticipation for his upcoming official visit to China scheduled to begin on May 23.
China reaffirms long-term partnership
Vice Chairman Tsai Dafeng thanked Pakistan for its hospitality and conveyed greetings from the Chinese leadership on the diplomatic anniversary.
He said China remains committed to strengthening ties with Pakistan and advancing cooperation under the vision of a shared future.
He also reaffirmed China’s support for Pakistan’s role in regional peace and stability efforts.
Both sides emphasized that the Pakistan-China partnership remains a key pillar for peace and development in the region.
China reiterated its continued support for Pakistan, while both countries expressed a shared commitment to multilateral cooperation and regional harmony.
The term “iron brotherhood” was once again highlighted as a symbol of enduring diplomatic and strategic trust between the two nations.
