German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said Iran must return to the negotiating table and cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.
According to details, the German chancellor said he held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which both leaders agreed that diplomatic negotiations with Iran must begin.
Friedrich Merz said Iran should also keep the Strait of Hormuz open in order to ease tensions in the region and prevent disruption to global trade.
The German chancellor spoke with President Trump while returning from China. During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East, Iran’s nuclear programme and the regional security situation.
