Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated the government’s resolve to implement austerity measures.
According to details, Dar chaired the fifth meeting of the Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy and Austerity. The meeting reviewed progress on the fuel subsidy initiative and took a detailed view of the implementation of the Prime Minister’s austerity policy.
Dar stated that the government would ensure full implementation of these measures in both letter and spirit.

The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the Minister of State for Finance, federal secretaries for petroleum and information technology, as well as other concerned officials, including representatives from provincial departments and the governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Dar also reviewed austerity measures at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Fuel Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures, and expressed satisfaction over their progress.
