Pakistan red-ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed termed on Wednesday the return to form of Babar Azam a welcome sign for Pakistan cricket during the ongoing 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Speaking to the media during the national squad’s training camp ahead of the Test series tour to Bangladesh, Sarfaraz said the players were undergoing training in two sessions, with morning nets and evening fielding drills.
He added players involved in the PSL final would join the squad in Bangladesh on May 4.
Sarfaraz said that he had been working in the coaching circuit for the past seven to eight months and that his full attention remained on red-ball cricket, while decisions regarding white-ball formats rested with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
He added that domestic performers Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal had been given an opportunity in the squad.
The head coach said Babar Azam’s return to form was an encouraging development for Pakistan cricket.
He said the Karachi camp had been arranged in view of Bangladesh’s playing conditions and expressed the side’s intention to begin the new cycle of the World Test Championship on a positive note.
