Mark Chapman struck an unbeaten 69 from 33 balls as Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultans in the 40th and final group stage match of the Pakistan Super League at the Karachi stadium on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 193, Islamabad United reached 193 for six in 18.4 overs. Chapman’s innings, marked by four fours and six sixes, proved decisive after a measured start to the chase.

Earlier, Multan Sultans posted 192 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. Shan Masood led the scoring with 44, while Sahibzada Farhan and Steven Smith made 30 each. Mohammad Wasim added a late unbeaten 26 from nine balls to lift the total.
Islamabad’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Imad Wasim, Salman Mirza, Salman Irshad, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan and Chris Green taking one apiece.
In reply, Islamabad lost early wickets but recovered through contributions from Mohsin Riaz and captain Shadab Khan. Chapman then anchored the innings, accelerating in the latter stages to guide his side home.
With the victory, Islamabad United moved from third to second place in the standings and secured a spot in the Qualifier, where they will face Peshawar Zalmi on April 28.
