Rs120bln scandal uncovered
According to official details, an internal audit uncovered serious irregularities in the import and clearance of solar panels.
The audit revealed alleged over-invoicing of Rs120 billion, detected in just 10 percent of the consignments reviewed, indicating the scale of the issue could be far larger.
Investigations found violations of rules in the faceless assessment system used during the clearance of solar panels.
Authorities believe these loopholes may have been exploited to inflate import values and bypass regulatory checks.
The committees include representation from major institutions such as the State Bank, FIA, and other relevant bodies.
Officials said special attention will be given to potential money laundering aspects linked to the over-invoicing scandal.
