Iran has taken Pakistan’s leadership into confidence over concerns relating to its talks with the United States.
According to details, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, leading a delegation, met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Saturday. The meeting reviewed the prevailing regional situation and bilateral relations.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were also present. Sources said Araghchi briefed the prime minister in detail on the Iranian leadership’s position. Iran conveyed its concerns regarding negotiations with the United States and apprised Pakistan’s leadership of related matters.

The prime minister stressed the need to promote diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region. Both sides agreed to enhance bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.
The meeting underscored the importance of reducing tensions and maintaining continuity in dialogue, sources added. The prime minister said Pakistan would continue to play its role for regional peace.
The Iranian foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. Both countries agreed to pursue peace, stability and resolution of issues through dialogue.
Earlier, Araghchi met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during his visit to Islamabad, the Iranian embassy said, as regional diplomacy surrounding a possible Iran-US understanding gathers pace.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and National Security Adviser Asim Malik were also present, reflecting the high-level nature of the discussions.
