Reports from Indian media said that the decision was taken amid rising concerns over governance within the organisation.
Allegations of mismanagement, lack of transparency, and procedural irregularities are said to have contributed to the loss of status.
The FIVB has also instructed the current steering committee to continue its work in the interim period.
