Afghanistan cricket team’s noted leg-spinner Rashid Khan has disclosed that he was offered citizenship and the chance to play cricket by India and Australia, but he declined.
According to the details, Rashid Khan said that in 2023, an influential figure advised him to leave Afghanistan and settle in India to pursue his cricket career. He replied that he would continue to represent his own country, Afghanistan.
He said such offers had been made to him before, but his position remained clear that if he did not play for Afghanistan, he would not play for any other country. Rashid Khan termed his decision as loyalty to his homeland, adding that Afghanistan would always remain his first priority.
