Security forces have eliminated two Indian-backed terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bannu, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR stated that the operation was carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district against militants of Fitna al-Khawarij. During an exchange of fire, two Indian-backed militants were killed.
Among those killed was a militant commander, Waheedullah alias Muktiar, along with a suicide bomber. A suicide jacket, arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
The ISPR said that Waheedullah was included in the list of most-wanted terrorists and had been involved in numerous attacks on security forces and civilians. He was also identified as the handler of the suicide attacker involved in the February 21 attack in Bannu, in which Lieutenant Colonel Gul Faraz embraced martyrdom.
Security forces, through timely action, averted a major tragedy. The ISPR added that the main perpetrator has been brought to justice through the operation, avenging the attack.
A clearance operation is under way in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. Operations against terrorism will continue with full force.
