Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has concluded a three-day official visit to Iran, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace. The visit focused on strengthening ties and promoting dialogue amid rising Middle East tensions.
During the visit to Iran, the chief of defence forces held key meetings with top Iranian officials. He called on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and also met separately with Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Commander of Khatam-ul-Anbiya Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi accompanied him as part of the Pakistani delegation.
Regional security and diplomacy
According to ISPR, the discussions centered on achieving sustainable peace in the region, particularly in light of the evolving security situation in the Middle East.
Both sides reviewed ongoing diplomatic engagements and explored collaborative measures to ensure long-term peace and stability. Detailed talks were also held on the broader regional security environment and diplomatic relations.
Field Marshal Munir highlighted the importance of dialogue and reducing tensions to resolve outstanding issues. He stressed that peaceful resolution through sustained diplomatic efforts remains the only viable path forward.
The meetings underscored the need for continued engagement and cooperation to address regional challenges effectively.
Strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations
The field marshal conveyed warm wishes and regards from Pakistan’s president, prime minister, and the people of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the historic and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran, emphasizing mutual respect and cooperation.
During his visit, Munir expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Iranian leadership and the people of Iran. He thanked them for their warm reception and acknowledged the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations.
Pakistan’s role in peace efforts
The visit reflects Pakistan’s continued efforts to facilitate a negotiated settlement to the Middle East conflict.
Officials said it demonstrates Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region through dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
