United States President Donald Trump has indicated major progress in negotiations with Iran, stating that extending the ceasefire may not be necessary as a resolution could be reached sooner.
In multiple media interviews, President Trump emphasized that a lasting agreement is preferable to prolonging the ceasefire. Speaking to Fox News, he said the conflict with Iran is nearing its end and that decisive action was taken to prevent Tehran from becoming a nuclear power - warning that such a development would have destabilized the global balance.
In an interview with ABC News, Trump reiterated that there would likely be no need to extend the ceasefire period, adding that a comprehensive agreement—particularly one supporting Iran’s reconstruction - remains the best option.
Earlier, in a conversation with the New York Post, the US president described the next two days as “extremely important,” suggesting that significant developments in negotiations are imminent. He also revealed that the second round of talks could once again take place in Islamabad, highlighting Pakistan as the preferred venue.
Trump praised Syed Asim Munir, calling his role in facilitating dialogue “excellent,” and questioned the need to shift talks to any unrelated country. Addressing American journalists currently in Pakistan, he urged them to remain there, stating that “anything could happen in the next two days.”
