Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced on Sunday that several “enemy aircraft” were destroyed during a U.S. operation to recover a stranded pilot.
The downed aircraft reportedly included a C-130 military transport plane and two Black Hawk helicopters.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the unified command of Iran’s armed forces, said the operation involved a coordinated effort by the Aerospace Force, Ground Force, Popular Units, Basij, and police command.
“During a joint operation, enemy aircraft were destroyed,” the spokesperson stated, confirming the earlier report from Iran’s police command about the C-130 being downed in southern Isfahan province.
Details of downed aircraft
According to the Iranian officials, the aircraft destroyed during the mission included:
- One C-130 military transport plane
- Two Black Hawk helicopters
Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s army also reported that it had downed an Israeli drone in the same province, highlighting heightened military activity in the region.
The U.S. mission aimed to locate and extract a stranded airman in Iran. While details of the pilot’s status have not been released, the loss of multiple aircraft indicates significant resistance from Iranian forces.
The incident adds to growing tensions in the region, with both U.S. and Iranian military units closely monitoring each other’s movements.
