Israel faces the prospect of severe economic losses in the event of war with Iran, as the economic consequences of escalating tensions draw alarm within the Israeli Ministry of Finance.
According to the Israeli Ministry of Finance, rising tensions could cost the country 9 billion shekels per week, equivalent to approximately 2.9 billion US dollars. The mounting fiscal deficit is attributed to war expenditure and increased military defence spending.
A media report states that the projected economic losses include damage to infrastructure and widespread business closures. Should the conflict become prolonged, the economy could face far greater strain.
