Fresh correspondence released by the US Department of Justice has drawn renewed attention to links between Prince Andrew and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, detailing what appears to be a cordial email exchange shortly after Epstein’s release from house arrest in July 2010.
According to the documents, communication between the two began on July 24, 2010 — a day after Epstein regained his freedom. The financier reportedly initiated contact, informing Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, that he planned to travel to Paris.
An account identified as “The Duke” appeared to respond positively, referencing Epstein’s release as good news and inquiring about his upcoming plans in the French capital.
The correspondence suggests Epstein discussed business prospects involving associates with significant financial resources who were seeking new ventures. Andrew, in his replies, appeared to allude to interest in large-scale transactions, mentioning potential government-related purchases valued in the billions. He reportedly concluded the message using his full royal title.
Approximately two weeks later, the tone of the emails shifted. Epstein suggested that Andrew might be interested in meeting a young Russian woman for dinner, describing her in favourable terms and indicating she already had the royal’s contact details.
Andrew’s response was described as prompt and open, asking practical questions about arrangements and expressing willingness to meet.
The exchange took place months before the widely circulated December 2010 photograph showing Andrew and Epstein walking together in New York’s Central Park — an image that later became emblematic of the controversy surrounding their association.
