The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has contacted the British government in view of the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East, after which it was decided to cancel the one-day match between Pakistan Shaheens and England Lions scheduled in Abu Dhabi.
In a statement, the ECB said the safety of players and officials remained its foremost priority and no risk could be taken in the prevailing circumstances. The training camp of the England women's cricket team in Abu Dhabi has also been postponed. Security concerns intensified following reports of recent attacks in the Palm Jumeirah resort area of Dubai, leading to the decision to call off the fixture.
The one-day contest between Pakistan Shaheens and England Lions was due to take place in Abu Dhabi. The England T20 side will depart for India as scheduled for the semi-final in the ongoing edition of the Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
