Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel and the United States have launched a military operation against Iran, describing it as a move to eliminate what he called an “existential threat” to Israel.
In a video statement, Netanyahu said Israel and the United States had initiated coordinated military action against Iran.
“A short while ago Israel and the United States launched an operation to remove the existential threat posed by the terrorist regime in Iran,” he stated.
The announcement follows escalating regional tensions after reported US-Israeli strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure.
Call to Iranian people
Netanyahu addressed the people of Iran directly, urging them to challenge their leadership.
“Our joint action will create the conditions for the brave Iranian people to take their destiny into their own hands,” he said. He added that the time had come for Iranians to “cast off the yoke of tyranny and bring about a free and peace-seeking Iran.”
The Israeli prime minister also praised US President Donald Trump for what he described as “historic leadership” in supporting the operation.
Netanyahu framed the joint action as a strategic partnership aimed at countering threats from Tehran and reshaping regional stability.
