The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 is scheduled to take place from October 4 to November 21.
According to dates provisionally approved by the International Cricket Council. The tournament will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, marking the first ODI World Cup in Africa since 2003.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the dates were agreed at an ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad in May and are expected to receive final confirmation at the ICC Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh in July.
South Africa’s eight venues are expected to host the majority of the matches, with at least 41 of the tournament’s 54 fixtures set to be played there.
Zimbabwe is expected to stage between eight and 10 matches, while Namibia will host three fixtures.
Zimbabwe will have three venues for the event, with Victoria Falls joining Harare Sports Club and Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
The Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium is due for completion later this year and is expected to host domestic cricket before its official inauguration next May.
The 2027 edition will feature 14 teams, returning to the format used before the previous two tournaments, which were contested by 10 sides.
Teams will be divided into two groups of seven, with the top three from each group progressing to the Super Six stage.
As ICC Full Members, South Africa and Zimbabwe have automatic qualification, while Namibia must qualify through the regular qualification pathway.
The tournament will also be the first ICC event of the 2027-2031 Future Tours Programme, with discussions continuing over the future structure of the World Test Championship.
