FIA Immigration officials at Karachi Airport have arrested two passengers who were attempting to seek political asylum on religious grounds under the pretext of traveling to Cambodia.
According to authorities, the arrested individuals are Victor Samuel and Sunil Gul. During initial investigations, both passengers’ mobile phones were searched, yielding several important documents, including applications for asylum submitted to the United Nations.
FIA officials said that, according to Sunil Gul, Victor Samuel was assisting him with his asylum proceedings abroad. Both individuals were offloaded on charges of providing possible assistance for illegal migration and making false representations.
Subsequently, the suspects were handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further legal proceedings, where investigations are ongoing.
