An Amazon delivery van became stuck in marshland in the United Kingdom after its driver followed GPS directions into an area used as a military firing range by the UK Ministry of Defence.
According to HM Coastguard Southend-on-Sea, officials responded on Sunday morning to an incident at the Thames Estuary involving The Broomway - a 600-year-old, six-mile-long historic footpath.
The Amazon driver had been attempting to reach Foulness Island using GPS navigation but mistakenly drove onto The Broomway located near Great Wakering, where the van quickly became trapped in deep mud.
Coastguard officials stated that The Broomway is not suitable for vehicles and should only be accessed on foot - preferably with an experienced guide familiar with the dangerous marshland terrain.
They further warned that the area is extremely hazardous and owned by the UK Ministry of Defence. Public access is only permitted when firing ranges are inactive and safety barriers are open.
The delivery driver safely exited the area and reported the incident to Amazon. Authorities later managed to recover the vehicle from the site.
