The federal cabinet has approved amendments to the Off-Grid Power Plants Levy Act 2025.
Sources divulged on Tuesday that it has also approved the sale of gas to Captive Power Plants, amendments to the PPRA Ordinance 2002, and the Cannabis Control and Regulatory Policy. The sources pertaining to the development said the purpose of the Bhang Control and Regulatory Policy is to promote the use of plant-based materials in the pharmaceutical and textile sectors.
The amendments to the PPRA Ordinance will align public tendering and procurement with modern requirements. On the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior, the Cabinet also approved a visa clearance system. Its aim is to facilitate the acquisition of visas by Pakistani citizens travelling abroad through a transparent and secure mechanism.
The cabinet approved the consolidation of the Bill for the National University for Security Sciences, Islamabad. A committee has been formed in the National Assembly to provide effective consultation on private members’ bills and legislation. The cabinet committee has endorsed the decisions taken in accordance with legislative meetings and the Economic Coordination Committee’s meeting of 18 December.
