In a deeply heartbreaking incident, KGF Chapter 2 co-director Kirtan Nadagouda lost his four-year-old son, Chiranjeevi Sonarsh K. Nadagouda, in a tragic lift accident on December 15, 2025.
According to reports by Kannada Prabha, the child became trapped inside an elevator. Despite immediate efforts by family members and others present to rescue him, the toddler could not be saved. The accident reportedly unfolded within moments, leaving no time for effective intervention.
Chiranjeevi Sonarsh was the son of Kirtan Nadagouda and his wife, Samrudhi Patel Kirtan. Family friends described the young child as cheerful, lively, and full of energy. His sudden and tragic passing has left his parents devastated and created an immeasurable void in their lives.
As news of the tragedy spread, condolences poured in from across the South Indian film industry as well as from political figures. Actors, filmmakers, technicians, and fans expressed their grief and stood in solidarity with the bereaved family during this painful time.
A report by India Today stated that the accident occurred very rapidly, which is why the child could not be rescued in time. Kirtan Nadagouda, known for his work on the pan-India blockbuster KGF Chapter 2, has also been involved in several Kannada film projects and was reportedly working on upcoming ventures, including collaborations with director Prashanth Neel.
So far, neither Kirtan Nadagouda nor his wife has released an official statement regarding the tragedy. However, actor and politician Pawan Kalyan expressed his condolences in a heartfelt message, stating:
“I was deeply saddened to learn about the death of four-and-a-half-year-old Sonarsh, who got stuck in a lift. I express my deepest condolences to Sri Kirtan and Smt. Samrudhi. I pray to the Almighty to give the couple the strength to overcome the grief of losing their son.”
The loss has sent shockwaves through the regional film industry, where Kirtan Nadagouda is a respected filmmaker. Colleagues and well-wishers continue to mourn the untimely passing of the young child, a tragedy that words can scarcely capture.
