The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that from January 2026, all pilgrimages will depart exclusively through registered group organisers.
Minister of Religious Affairs Sardar Yousuf confirmed that preparations for pilgrimage departures by sea are complete. Travel from Iran to Iraq by sea will soon be available, providing pilgrims with an additional mode of transport beyond traditional routes.
The Ministry has issued registration certificates to 67 new pilgrimage group organizers, bringing the total number of licensed companies to 91.
This step is part of an effort to streamline pilgrimage operations and maintain accountability and safety during travel.

Sardar Yousuf emphasized that the ministry is committed to providing secure and transparent travel facilities for all pilgrims.
By restricting departures to registered groups only, the government aims to minimize risks, improve coordination, and enhance the pilgrimage experience.
