Dozens of planes from various airlines at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport have been left idle for years, gradually turning into junk, according to sources.
Over 25 aircraft have become nesting sites for birds, prompting the airport authority to consider multiple options for addressing the situation.
Of the planes in the airport’s junkyard, 20 belong to a private airline, while seven are PIA aircraft. In addition, foreign cargo and passenger planes have also been standing unused for several years.
Sources said the private airline’s aircraft have not been removed due to legal issues. In light of the situation, the airport authority has begun exploring options for either removing the planes or putting them to alternative use.
