One of the abducted passengers passed away of heart attack, while 10 others were safely recovered following a gunmen attack on a passenger bus near Sonmiani on the Guddu–Kashmore Road.
According to details surfaced on Tuesday, all 11 abducted passengers have been recovered, the police confirmed. A heavy police presence remained in the riverine belt, led by the Sukkur DIG along with four SSPs, police said.
Earlier, the dacoits attacked a passenger bus on the Guddu–Kashmore Road. 18 passengers were abducted during the incident.
The operation included the use of armoured vehicles and modern technology, according to the Ghotki SSP.
Dense fog is causing difficulties during the operation, the Ghotki SSP said. Ghotki police have also carried out drone strikes against the bandits.
Two of the recovered passengers are injured and are being shifted to the Ubauro hospital, police said.
The operation will continue until the remaining abductees are recovered and the bandits are eliminated, the Ghotki SSP said.
RAHIM YAR KHAN
A video of four abductees from the Kacha area has been circulated in Rahim Yar Khan.
The abductees said there were no beds and no food or drinking items. They said they were kept under the open sky and asked for release.
The abductees were identified as Jameel, Abdul Khaliq, Rafiq and Adnan, residents of Ahmedpur Lama. They were abducted one month ago.
The families said they were exhausted after repeated visits to police stations. Other abductees were recovered after payment of ransom.
SUKKUR
In an operation under the command of Sukkur DIG Captain (Retd) Faisal Abdullah Chachar, 10 abducted persons were recovered.
The pursuit of bandits involved in the abduction of passengers after an attack on a bus near Ubauro in Ghotki remained under way, the DIG said.
10 passengers were recovered after an exchange of fire between Police and Rangers, the Sukkur DIG added. Two bandits were wounded during the operation, the police maintained.
The attack targeted a passenger bus travelling from Sadiqabad to Quetta, the police said.
Moreover, the police said that information had also been received regarding the abduction of several individuals, adding that a cordon of the bandits continued during the joint operation by police and rangers.
UBAURO
Injured abductees were shifted to Tehsil Hospital, Ubauro. Sukkur DIG and police from three districts continued an operation in the katcha area for the recovery of the remaining abductees.
