Kenyan environmental activist Truphena Muthoni broke her own record by hugging a tree for 72 hours.
According to media reports, the peaceful protest was significant as it set aside conflict and disorder. Reports said protests often carry accounts of violence, but this action aimed to stir human conscience.
The report added that her previous record stood at 48 hours. It said Truphena Muthoni selected a local tree inside a government compound in the town of Nyeri for the challenge.
The report noted that at one point during the challenge she nearly fell asleep, but supporters woke her.
In Japan, robot wolves with red eyes have been deployed to keep bears away from populated areas.
Truphena Muthoni said she wanted to raise awareness about environmental threats caused by climate change and deforestation.
She also spoke to local media about the importance of the clothing she wore during the challenge, adding that black in the outfit stood for African strength, protest and resilience.
Muthoni said green represented forests, renewal and hope, adding that red symbolised local resistance and the courage to face conditions.
She maintained blue represented water and marine protection.
