Former Pakistani actress Sara Chaudhry, who left showbiz for religious reasons, has revealed that she and her mother were subjected to multiple indecent offers during her initial months in the entertainment industry.
In a recent podcast, Sara discussed the harsh realities she encountered soon after stepping into showbiz.
She said harassment is not limited to entertainment alone, but the industry receives more attention because of the public perception that people working in showbiz “lack character.”
She noted that due to this stereotype, inappropriate offers are made more frequently to newcomers.
“My mother cried and asked me to leave showbiz”
Sara shared that her mother accompanied her everywhere during her early projects, yet the first few months were “very difficult” for her family.
She revealed that industry insiders made indecent proposals that deeply upset her mother. At one point, her mother broke down in tears and urged her to quit acting, resume her studies and stay away from the entertainment world.
“What was said to my mother was extremely rude,” Sara recalled, adding that she would rather not repeat the exact words.
In a softened tone, Sara disclosed that her mother was told that if she wanted to survive long in the industry, she must “do certain things”—otherwise success would remain out of reach.
She emphasized that she had always set strict personal boundaries while working in showbiz and tried her best never to cross them.
