Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan said on Thursday that the completion of the Pakistan Expressway in Balochistan would mark a 'major breakthrough' in the province’s transport development, as work on the Karachi–Quetta–Chaman Highway (N-25) already began.
He presided over a high-level meeting of the National Highway Authority, where an assessment of the 800-kilometre Pakistan Expressway took place. The meeting also covered security arrangements and other matters related to road construction in Balochistan. The NHA chairman and senior officials briefed Aleem Khan on the province’s ongoing projects.
Aleem Khan said the prime minister announced the construction of the N-25 earlier this year, adding that the completion of such highways in Balochistan would hold great significance. He maintained that work continued on the Khuzdar–Mastung section of the road.
The meeting also reviewed matters related to Gwadar, Khapro, the Coastal Highway and other routes. Aleem Khan has directed that the remaining roads in Balochistan should reach completion without delay.
