The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Tuesday that Pakistan has dispatched 200 tonnes of relief supplies to Sri Lanka by sea.
According to details, the NDMA said aid operations for victims continue without interruption. The consignment was sent from the NDMA warehouse in Islamabad during a formal handover ceremony attended by Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani and the Sri Lankan High Commissioner.
Minister Kayani stated that Pakistan would continue all possible efforts to assist those affected in Sri Lanka. He added that the NDMA remains committed to mitigating the destructive effects of disasters. The Sri Lankan High Commissioner expressed gratitude to the people and government of Pakistan for the prompt assistance.
The relief shipment, which is expected to take approximately eight days to reach Sri Lanka, includes tents, blankets, quilts, life jackets, boats, pumps, rations and medicines.
