The tragic death of three-year-old Ibrahim, who fell into an open manhole near Karachi’s NIPA Chowrangi, has shocked not only the city’s residents but also the entire entertainment community.
Such incidents occur repeatedly in Karachi, where negligence by the municipal authorities often results in the loss of precious lives. The heartbreaking incident involving little Ibrahim is yet another example of this ongoing failure.
The incident has deeply saddened everyone, and celebrities have also expressed their grief and anger, voicing serious concerns over the incompetence of the city administration.
Actress and host Mishi Khan strongly criticized Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, saying he should have been present at the site where the tragedy occurred.
Speaking about the mayor’s irritation at a journalist’s question, she stated that it is the leaders’ responsibility to answer the public, as citizens pay taxes and have the right to demand accountability.
She further said that Karachi’s devastation is no secret; the city is crying out in anguish due to administrative negligence. “Where does the city’s budget go? This needs to be made clear,” she added.

Host Waseem Badami shared a video on Instagram expressing sorrow over the city’s deteriorating condition and continuous negligence by the authorities.
He said that Karachi’s problems will never be resolved because the administration always has countless excuses to hide its incompetence and shows no compassion for the suffering of its people.

Actress Fatima Effendi questioned why manhole covers are not installed despite the huge revenue generated through e-challans in the city.

Actress Amar Khan said that the administration’s apathy is such that a task they failed to perform was accomplished by a trash-picker. She called the incident extremely heartbreaking and asked, “If the authorities don’t wake up now, then when will they?”
Actress Reema Khan expressed profound sorrow over Ibrahim’s death and prayed for comfort for his grieving parents.
Actress Nimra Khan said she had no words to describe what the child’s mother must be going through.
