A shocking incident in West Bengal’s Medinipur district left an entire family hospitalized after a cooking mistake turned their meal toxic.
According to reports, a woman accidentally used acid instead of water while preparing food, resulting in severe poisoning for six family members, including two young children. They were immediately rushed to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, where doctors described the children’s condition as critical.
Following the incident, police and local authorities launched an investigation. Initial inquiries suggest the mishap occurred due to negligence linked to a family member’s profession in working with copper and silver, which required keeping acid at home. Unfortunately, the acid was mistakenly used in cooking utensils by a relative who thought it was ordinary water.
Neighbors confirmed that keeping acid at home was common in the Santosh Sanyasi household, which contributed to the tragic misunderstanding. Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether the incident was purely accidental or intentional.
