A woman in Michigan won a 1 million-dollar lottery prize after she left her home at midnight in search of food.
The 53-year-old resident of Kent County told Michigan Lottery officials that she woke up due to hunger and stepped out to buy food. She said she also bought a few lottery tickets on the way.
She said that, once home, she scratched the tickets and was astonished to see that she had won 1 million dollars. She added that she then struggled to sleep for the rest of the night.
She said she still could not believe the win and had not yet made any firm plan about how to use the money.
Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said such stories from winners always brought her great pleasure. She added that one reason for the lottery’s popularity was the possibility of an unexpectedly large prize.
