Authorities have urged citizens to wear masks as the city remains under the influence of winds from the east, raising concerns over deteriorating air quality.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lahore is expected to remain between 195 and 210 on Sunday. The Smog Monitoring Centre has issued data indicating a spike in pollution levels, prompting stricter preventive measures across Punjab, including Lahore. An advisory has been released, recommending that motorcyclists and private vehicle users remain indoors on Sunday due to poor air conditions.
The environmental protection force, police and district administration will jointly conduct anti-smog operations. Anti-smog guns are to be deployed in high-pollution areas as part of the response.
The AQI is expected to remain between 210 and 245 from midnight until 4am on Sunday, while levels between 200 and 240 are forecast between 6am and 9am. Wind speeds are likely to range from 1 to 9 kilometres per hour throughout the day.
The Smog Monitoring Centre has advised the public to use face masks and limit outdoor activity to reduce exposure to polluted air.
