US President Donald Trump demanded on Friday that Microsoft dismiss Lisa Monaco, its president of global affairs.
According to TechCrunch, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Monaco’s role provides access to “Highly Sensitive Information”, which he described as “unacceptable”. He referred to her as “a senior National Security aide under Barack Hussein Obama, and a Lawfare and Weaponization obsessed Deputy Attorney General under Crooked Joe Biden and Lisa’s Puppet ‘Boss’ Attorney General Merrick Garland”.
Trump said, “It is my opinion that Microsoft should immediately terminate the employment of Lisa Monaco.”
Monaco previously worked under both Barack Obama and Joe Biden, including as deputy attorney general in the Biden administration. Earlier this year, Trump revoked Monaco’s security clearance under the same order that affected Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton and members of the Biden family.
TechCrunch contacted Microsoft for comment. Monaco joined the company in May. Her role includes oversight of Microsoft’s cybersecurity policy and its engagement with global governments.
Laura Loomer, a far-right activist and Trump supporter, has repeatedly criticised Microsoft for employing Monaco. In a post on X, she also attacked Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, referring to his birthplace in India and accusing him of “disgraceful scammer behaviour”. On Friday, she reposted Trump’s message and again urged the cancellation of Microsoft’s government contracts.
Trump has previously targeted other technology leaders since returning to office. He earlier called for the resignation of Intel President Lip-Bu Tan, citing alleged conflicts of interest. After Intel offered the government a 10 per cent stake in exchange for existing Biden administration funding, Trump described Tan as a “Highly Respected Chief Executive Officer”.
