Snap has announced Snap OS 2.0, the next version of its operating system for AR glasses. The update introduces a native browser, WebXR support, and several new tools to enhance the user experience.
Snap OS 2.0 brings a new browser designed to be faster and easier to use. The company says it has optimized page loading speed and power consumption, allowing users to navigate smoothly.

The browser features a redesigned home screen with widgets and bookmarks, plus an updated toolbar for typing or speaking website URLs. Users can also navigate history, refresh pages, and resize windows—similar to a laptop experience.
Gallery lens and memory sharing
Snap is introducing a Gallery Lens that makes it easier to view and share captures from Spectacles. With this tool, users can scroll through a carousel of videos, organize favorites, and send them to friends or post them directly to Stories.

This interactive layout is designed to help creators and casual users relive memories without leaving their AR experience.
Another addition is Travel Mode, which stabilizes AR content while in motion—such as in a car or on an airplane. This ensures tracking systems remain steady, preventing disruptions during use.
Spotlight lens and vertical video
Snap has also launched a Spotlight Lens, which overlays digital content directly into the real world. For instance, users can watch videos from creators while doing everyday tasks like washing dishes.
The company emphasized that Spectacles’ portrait field of view aligns perfectly with vertical video. Spotlight can be anchored in one place or follow the user as they move.
Perhaps the most significant change is support for WebXR, enabling users to access augmented reality experiences directly from WebXR-enabled websites. This brings more flexibility and opens new creative possibilities for developers.
The update comes shortly after Snap released its fifth-generation Spectacles for developers last year. A consumer version of the AR glasses is planned for 2026.
The launch also arrives just before Meta’s Connect conference this week, where Meta is expected to reveal its own updates in smart glasses, AI, and immersive technology.
