Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane has offered brides-to-be a refreshing piece of advice — don’t let the cost of a wedding dress overshadow the joy of the occasion.
Speaking at the launch of a fashion brand in Lahore, the Sabaat star urged young women to choose bridal outfits that align with their comfort and budget, rather than feeling pressured by social expectations.
“You’re the bride, whatever you wear, you’ll look beautiful,” Mawra said, stressing that comparisons with others often create unnecessary stress during wedding preparations.
Wearing family heirlooms on her big day
Mawra also shared a personal anecdote about her own wedding earlier this year. She revealed that she wore her mother-in-law’s bridal dress and her grandmother-in-law’s jewelry — heirlooms she initially didn’t value as much but later felt immense joy in embracing.
“I realised the true worth of family traditions that day,” she reflected, expressing her wish to someday pass these cherished items to her future daughter or daughter-in-law.
Mawra tied the knot with fellow actor Ameer Gilani in Lahore in February. Their wedding pictures quickly went viral, with fans admiring the couple’s chemistry and traditional yet heartfelt celebration.
