Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a high flood alert for the River Tawi and a flood warning for the River Chenab.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, a surge in the Chenab may create a flood situation downstream at Marala, potentially affecting parts of Gujrat and Sialkot districts. There is also a risk of flooding in tributaries and nullahs linked to the river.
Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed has directed commissioners, deputy commissioners, and relevant departments to remain on high alert.
Local government bodies, along with the departments of agriculture, irrigation, health, forests, livestock, and transport, have been instructed to prepare for possible emergency measures.
