Pakistani actor, singer, and assistant director Azan Sami Khan has said he is often unfairly labeled as a “traitor’s son” due to his father Adnan Sami Khan’s decision to live in India, despite his own commitment to Pakistan.
In a recent interview, Azan revealed that people have repeatedly pressured him to distance himself from his father.
“Many asked me to express disinterest in my father, but I love him very much. As a Pakistani, I may disagree with some of his choices, yet as a son, I deeply respect him,” he said.
Dealing with online hate
Azan expressed disappointment at the hate he faces online. “Whenever I post on social media, people comment, calling me the son of a traitor. I live here, I chose to work in Pakistan’s industry, yet I face criticism for my father’s decisions,” he shared.
The actor emphasized his patriotism, saying, “My father is respected in India, but I never went there despite having the option. I love Pakistan and will always stay here.” He added that both his parents are patriotic and questioned why he must constantly prove his loyalty.
“This criticism is painful because I am very patriotic myself,” Azan concluded.
