Current petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan
The Shehbaz Sharif-led government last revised petrol prices on August 16, pushing the cost of super petrol to Rs264.61 per litre and diesel to Rs272.99 per litre.
Officials said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) is finalising its pricing calculations and will forward the working paper to the Ministry of Petroleum.
The ministry will then share the recommendations with the Finance Division.
The final decision will be made after consultation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following which the Ministry of Finance is expected to issue an official notification. If approved, the revised prices will come into effect from midnight on September 1.
