The Punjab Budget 2026-27 includes major steps for women’s protection, education, welfare and economic development, with funds allocated for protection centres, working women’s hostels, women’s universities and offices of the Punjab Women Protection Authority.
Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt paid tribute to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for presenting what she described as a women-friendly budget.
Under the Punjab Budget 2026-27, Violence Against Women Protection Centres will be established in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad. Funds have also been allocated for women protection centres in Sahiwal, Sargodha and Bahawalpur.
According to Butt, these measures reflect the Punjab government’s practical commitment to protecting women’s rights and ensuring safer support systems across the province.
Funds for Women Protection Authority offices
The budget has also allocated funds for the establishment of offices of the Punjab Women Protection Authority.
Hina Butt said the move would strengthen institutional capacity and help improve services for women facing violence, harassment or legal challenges.
She said practical steps are being taken to protect women’s rights and ensure timely support through formal mechanisms.
Women’s universities in Sialkot, DG Khan
The announcement of women’s universities in Sialkot and Dera Ghazi Khan has been welcomed as a major step for female education. The MPA said women’s education remains one of the top priorities of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
She said expanding higher education opportunities for women would help build a more empowered and progressive Punjab.
The allocation of funds for working women’s hostels in different cities has been described as a major relief for women.
According to Hina, these hostels will support women who travel or relocate for employment and need safe, affordable accommodation. She said the initiative would help promote women’s economic participation and independence.
Focus on economic independence
Hina Pervaiz said the Punjab government has prioritized women-friendly projects that support economic independence. She said historic steps have been taken in the budget for women’s protection, welfare, education and socio-economic development.
The budget, she added, will help create opportunities for women to participate more actively in social and economic life.
The Punjab Women Protection Authority chairperson said the government is laying the foundation for a safe and empowered future for women. She said women’s education, protection and welfare are among Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s top priorities.
According to Hina, the Punjab government is committed to empowering women and ensuring that their rights are protected through practical policy measures.

Hina Pervaiz said the Punjab Budget 2026-27 will prove to be a milestone for the social and economic development of women.
