Pakistan’s Ministry of Information has claimed that it thwarted an alleged infiltration attempt by the Afghan Taliban administration after a drone reportedly entered Pakistani airspace near the Shinko area.
In a statement, the ministry said a drone originating from Afghanistan crossed into Pakistani territory, where it was immediately detected by Pakistan’s air defense systems.
According to the ministry, the Pakistan Air Force swiftly identified and destroyed the drone before it could pose any threat.
Pakistan rejects Taliban narrative
The Information Ministry said the incident exposed what it described as “false propaganda” by the Afghan Taliban government regarding security issues along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Officials maintained that Pakistan remains vigilant against any violations of its airspace and territorial integrity.
Concerns over terrorist presence in Afghanistan
The ministry also reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing concerns about the presence of terrorist organizations operating from Afghan territory.
According to the statement, camps of militant groups, including the extremist organization Islamic State – Khorasan Province, continue to exist in Afghanistan and pose security challenges to the region.
Pakistan has repeatedly called on Afghan authorities to take effective action against militant groups that use Afghan soil for cross-border activities.
The Ministry of Information said it had released an image of the destroyed drone as evidence of the incident.
However, no independent verification of the claims was immediately available, and there was no immediate response from authorities in Afghanistan regarding Pakistan’s statement.
