The Sutlej River has swelled to extremely high flood levels, submerging dozens of villages and breaching protective embankments in several areas, including Bheri Pir.
According to the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the water flow at Head Ganda Singh barrage has surged to 253,000 cusecs, with the river’s level rising to 22.99 feet. Authorities have declared a high alert as more water inflows are expected.

At least 72 villages in Kasur district have been severely affected, with floodwaters entering homes and fields, forcing residents to take shelter under open skies. Rescue, police, and revenue teams worked through the night to evacuate stranded families.
Military personnel have also been deployed to assist in rescue and relief efforts. Deputy Commissioner Kasur said the administration will not leave people alone in this crisis and assured that every possible help will be provided.
