The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a relief package worth Rs3 billion for flood-hit families in Gilgit-Baltistan, alongside a Rs3.81 billion technical grant for PTV.
The decisions came during a high-level meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Relief for Gilgit-Baltistan flood victims
Officials said that tents, medicines, food, and other essential supplies will be distributed to affected households in Gilgit-Baltistan. The ECC also directed authorities to ensure quick restoration of damaged infrastructure and the rebuilding of flood-affected areas.
Rs3.81bn grant for PTV
The committee approved a technical grant of Rs3.81 billion for Pakistan Television (PTV). However, it directed the state broadcaster to reduce its reliance on the federal budget and work toward financial self-sufficiency in the coming years.
Petroleum levy and oil pipeline project
The ECC also approved the transfer of petroleum levy benefits from captive power consumers to grid consumers. Additionally, it cleared conditions for the Machike-Thallian and Thallian-Tarujabba projects, a development expected to further enhance Pakistan-Azerbaijan energy cooperation.
Recovery from Synergyco Oil Refinery
The committee instructed authorities to recover all outstanding petroleum levy dues from Synergyco Oil Refinery. This measure is aimed at improving compliance and strengthening revenue collection.
Utility Stores package remains pending
Sources confirmed that no progress was made on the Rs27 billion package for Utility Stores Corporation employees. Although the Ministry of Industries and Production had shared details with a parliamentary committee, the matter was not taken up in this ECC meeting.
